WW3?!?-AI vs Human Creativity

There is truly a war outside. No, I’m not talking about the one in the Middle East or in the various conflicts around. I’m talking about the secret war between AI and human creativity.

Sure, we are all creative in our own ways. But the world is changing. We are quickly switching from human-generated innovation and creativity to one generated by code and algorithms. Unless you’ve lived under a rock, you’ve probably seen it yourself. AI is writing stories, creating art, and even composing music. It kind of sounds like robots are sneaking in to take over our creative jobs.

Imagine a robot sitting at a desk, typing away on a novel while the author naps nearby. That image sums up how some people feel about AI—doing all the creative work while we sit back. What makes it worse is that it even allowed me to utilize AI to create the image itself.

I get why it feels a little weird. I’ve used AI tools myself, and sometimes they surprise me with what they can do. But here’s the thing: AI isn’t creating like humans do. It doesn’t have experiences, emotions, or that spark that comes from struggling with an idea.

As a Public Affairs specialist in the Air Force, my job is tailored to communicating messages and the mission through innovative and created platforms. I work with Airmen who constantly use creative strategies to capture the importance of our military members on a daily basis.

Their creativity comes from being there, feeling the scene, and making something unique in the moment. That’s something AI can’t replicate.

The real challenge is ensuring AI does not replace creativity. It’s us starting to rely on AI so much that we stop pushing ourselves to create. Imagine slipping slowly into depending on AI for everything—losing touch with that messy, human part of imagination.

It’s possible that we can win the war with the machine, or are we destined to lose this battle like a certain classic movie?
